Stories of Donated Items

Over the past 25 years, hundreds of Gyeonggi citizens have generously donated invaluable cultural heritage that has been kept for generations. Their passion is well demonstrated by the fact that more than half of the Museum’s collection has been donated by the people of Gyeonggi Province. Many of the donated items have been recognized for their value through designation as national or Gyeonggi provincial cultural heritage. Most of the designated cultural heritage items in the Museum collection were donated by the citizens of Gyeonggi Province.

The new space for donated items introduces donation under the theme “Become Treasures for Everyone.” The story of 1) Wedding, a New Beginning and 2) Passing the State Examination, a Happy Occasion for the Whole Family represents our promise to make a new start. We tried to convey donors’ messages by placing more weight on presenting simple objects and their touching stories rather than emphasizing the items’ value as cultural heritage.
